The 5% taken from winning Banker bets exists precisely because the drawing rules make Banker win slightly more often than Player. Even after paying it, you're ahead of the Player bet.
The Tie is the trap. It pays 8 to 1, which looks generous, but a tie turns up far less often than one hand in nine, and the house keeps about €14 of every €100 bet on it over time. Side bets like Player Pair and Banker Pair sit in the same territory, with edges above 10%. How a baccarat hand plays out

Chips go on Player, Banker or Tie (and side bets if you want them). When the timer runs out, betting closes.
- Two cards each
The dealer deals two cards to Player and two to Banker. Tens and picture cards count 0, aces 1, everything else its face value, and only the last digit of the total counts: 7 + 8 = 15 makes 5.
- Naturals end it
If either hand has 8 or 9, both stand and the round is decided.
- Fixed third-card rules
Player draws on 0 to 5 and stands on 6 or 7. Banker then draws or stands according to a fixed table based on its total and Player's third card. Nobody chooses; the rules decide.
- Settlement
The hand closer to 9 wins. Player pays 1:1, Banker 1:1 less 5% commission, Tie 8:1. On a tie, Player and Banker bets are returned.
